Integrated Participatory Approach to Development (IPAD) is at the forefront of pioneering meaningful projects for local populations in South Sudan. Since inception, we’ve initiated and partnered with various stakeholders to support conflict-affected communities in the region.
From building schools to providing community infrastructure, IPAD has worked closely with communities, government and non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to initiate valuable projects over the years.
Every project we’re involved in is carefully managed by a special committee and a Programs Coordinator. The Executive Director, in consultation with the Board of Directors, will also oversee the final implementation and operation of each of our projects.
In recent years, we’ve been involved in the following projects that have had a direct impact on local communities in South Sudan.
Workshops
IPAD organizes, schedules, and operates multiple workshops throughout the year. Each workshop is aimed at empowering local communities by providing special training to promote productive livelihoods, providing rehabilitation and recovery services, training the youth in gaining vocational skills, and teaching local communities about environmental conservation.
IPAD recently held a stakeholder’s workshop at Nang Centre, Yirol East. The workshop featured training and empowering Community Representatives to obtain critical skills that they can take back to their communities. In particular, teachers were trained to staff local schools and increase accessibility to education.
Providing educational personnel
Increasing access to education is one of the 8 key pillars of what we do. IPAD believes that promotion of education (particularly for the girl child) will increase opportunities and uplift local populations from current hardships.
Therefore, IPAD has been deeply involved in recruiting teachers and training local stakeholders to staff target schools. By ensuring that each school has enough personnel, education delivery will proceed efficiently and effectively.
Recently, IPAD recruited volunteer teachers to staff 5 target schools in Yirol East. This project was in line with our bigger goal of promoting educational access to communities in South Sudan. During the project, IPAD recruited, trained, and deployed teachers to various schools- with the ultimate goal of increasing access to education for local populations.
Opening and servicing schools in local communities
As part of our push for education access, we also support the building of school structures. We partner with organizations such as UNICEF to secure funding for the building of classrooms, toilets, teacher’s quarters, and other relevant structures.
IPAD helped build a new TLS in Wunthou Primary School. The TLS will help both teachers and students to access critical resources that fuel a productive learning environment.
